My top 5…I mean 6 of last week…with the exception of number 6 being totally awesome!

Yes I know I’m late with this post, but work and so forth you know. I’ll try to not make it a habit though. Last week was a killer, work seemed like it would never end but I still managed to keep my head above water whilst keeping an eye open for some cool things to share with you guys.

1. Mark Fitzgibbon’s “Fitzy Facts” Video

If you haven’t watched any of this guys videos, I suggest you get onto Youtube as soon as possible at  It really is the funniest, uniquely Capetonian series of videos if seen in a long time. I predict that this guy’s stuff is going to be big, he’s already got an impressive social media following. This is just one out of many videos he did promoting and celebrating the Cape coloured culture.

2. Clifton Fire Jam20150313_191317

Like I’ve said before anything that combines beach, sunsets and people are always thumbs up. Always a super chilled vibe combined with smooth drumbeats and amazing fire juggling skills, makes for a great laid back evening, especially after a hard week of work. Go like their Facebook page   to check out some of the photos taken on Friday as well as look out for other upcoming events.

3. Sophie Varela’s AMAZING Illustrations

Nothing makes me lose my mind the way that design does. Especially if its got a feminine touch to it. So you can only imagine how I felt when I came across this chicks work. Instant love at first sight obviously. So maybe you’ll like them too or maybe you won’t but just look man because its too effing pretty not to.

4. Manenberg House project

A cool initiative sent to me by a colleague where a couple put together an upliftment project in Manenberg whereby they encourage people to put money back into the communities to help combat gansterism and drug abuse. I just think that 2 white people staying in Manenberg is damn brave considering just how bad crime really is there but definitely have to take my hat off to them for starting something that helps make a difference in other people’s lives.

5. Cape Town Carnival

Three words for this, amazing amazing AMAZING! I’m actually quite embarrassed to say that this was my first time attending the carnival, considering that it’s taken place every year since 1907. If you guys don’t know anything about the carnival, here’s a brief history snippet. So like after slavery ended 1834, it was celebrated with street parades, bonfires and fireworks so this is just a tradition from then but yoh, I didn’t know it was THAT cool. Getting to and from town was a bit of a pain in the ass but I definitely think its worth going to see. I didn’t get any good pictures unfortunately, first because I’m short and secondly the blur is real on a camera phone so go to the below link compliments of channel24 for some awesome shots of the event.

6. Earl Sinclair performs Hypnotize by The Notorious B.I.G aka The best thing I’ve seen this year so far 🙂

Then lastly, and this was totes going to be a top 5 until my colleague showed me the most awesome thing I’ve seen all year. You’ve probably watched it already but I’ve just seen it and I effing LOVE IT!! So I’m willing to make a compromise for this week because how can I not share this piece of amazingness with you??
