Last Week’s Top 5 Favourites

I hope everyone had an amazing weekend. Here’s what made me smile last week

1. Trevor Noah – Our local boy becoming not so local anymore

But in a good way though. I posted about him getting the Daily Show gig in New York some time ago and then last week he attended the Met Gala with Hollywood’s glamour squad. Moving up pretty fast is an under statement and he deserves every bit of it, I mean what’s NOT to love about Trevor Noah?

He’s really made a major name for himself and as a fellow South African, I couldn’t be any more proud. From having a small role in Isidingo in 2002, to becoming a host on a world famous TV show is one amazing journey and I have a feeling he’s success won’t stop there and what’s better is that he’s always referencing our home. Too many people tend to get lost in the whirlwind that is fame but he’s remained grounded and humble and I give him infinite virtual high 5’s for that.

Keep making us proud Mr. Noah, hopefully I’ll have the opportunity to rub shoulders with you one day.

2. Planting amazing memories at work in the form of an olive tree

My last post was a birthday tribute to my friend who also worked with me and last Thursday, we at Lowe decided to celebrate by planting an olive tree in his honour. We were joined by his parents and 2 sisters as well who helped plant the tree in our office court yard.

3. Embracing art on the streets of Cape Town

Part of a bigger post to follow I went around the city on Saturday in search of some cool street art. Here’s just a quick sneak peak of one of the art pieces I came across.

4. First Thursdays in Cape Town

And filled with creativity of course! But wow the vibe was amazing! I think the above video actually sums it up perfectly. This was only my second time doing the First Thursday walk In the city and I was equally amazed by the work this time around as I was the first time. As a fellow creative, nothing makes me happier to be surrounded by amazing works of art and I promise you that’s what you’ll get. I gatecrashed a comedy hour in the Mexican on Long street afterwards, so all in all a great Thursday evening.

5. T-shirt Packaging that formed little hearts in my eyes

That I found on Pinterest obvs. But how cool though? I think that anyone is capable of producing amazing packaging for otherwise normal everyday products. Next time you wanna give someone a gift and you actually want them to remember what you gave them get your designer friend to design a quick label (Yes we all have that one friend that knows how to work Adobe and therefore we ask them every time for design favours) then go get a little container somewhere to hold the gift and there you go! An otherwise ordinary gift gets bumped up to something special and unique.
